The type of incision used for a breast reduction may vary, depending on the size and shape of the breasts and the desired amount of reduction. The most common method for breast reduction is a three part incision:incisions are made around the areola (nipple area). Another incision runs vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the crease underneath the breast. The third is a horizontal incision beneath the breast, which follows the natural curve of the crease. Scars are permanent but will fade in time.

As a result the breasts will be reduced and reshaped and the nipple and areola are shifted to a higher post ion. The results of this surgery the breasts will be more proportional and often the areola maybe reduced and repostioned.
