BOTOX® Injections at UCLA

BOTOX® is a quick, simple non-surgical approach in temporarily treating facial wrinkles in the forehead, frown lines (between the brows) and for the "crows feet" or eye area (upper third of the face).

Botox injections are also used for excess sweating or hyperhydrosis. There is no downtime for this minimally invasive treatment.

BOTOX®, which is purified protein produced by the clostridium botulinum bacterium, works by weakening the muscles of facial expression. Once the resting tone of the treated muscles is weakened, the pull of the muscles relaxes and the overlying skin flattens. This approach is different from the other local treatments for the aging face.

Cosmoplast, Collagen, fat transfer, Restylane and other dermal fillers all work by filling in wrinkles or depressions. These fillers are frequently not as effective as BOTOX® in removing wrinkles in the upper third of the face.

BOTOX® has been safely used in the treatment of muscular facial spasms for over 15 years. Re-injection is necessary within 3-4 months. There are no known generalized side effects to BOTOX®.

Botox LogoOne 10 minute treatment, a few small injections can make a significant improvement in the lines between the brows, forehead or crows feet. These results can last up to 4 months.

BOTOX® is approved by the FDA for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in patients 18-65 years old. BOTOX® is the only treatment of its type approved by the FDA for this use. According to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery an estimated 3 million people were treated with BOTOX® in 2004 alone.

BOTOX® treatments are offered daily at the UCLA Surgery Center. Call today for an appointment 1-800-825-2752.
