ABOUT

|
Before joining the Faculty at UCLA, Dr. Joan Lipa has established herself as an accomplished breast reconstructive surgeon. Over the past 7 years in practice at the University of Toronto in Canada , she has become known for her expertise in microvascular perforator flap reconstruction, combined with a keen aesthetic sense. She has also vast experience with the full spectrum of silicone breast implants.
Dr. Joan Lipa has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. She pursues research in microvascular flap physiology and mechanisms involved in breast implant capsular contracture, in order to optimize patients’ outcomes from surgery. She has written book chapters on breast and post-cancer surgery reconstruction, in addition to giving lectures for continuing medical education.
Dr. Lipa is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Her clinical interests include all forms of breast reconstructive surgery (DIEP, GAP, TUG/gracilis, latissimus dorsi, and expander and implant surgery), microvascular reconstructive surgery including surgery for facial paralysis and cancer reconstruction, in addition to aesthetic surgery for the face and body.
