<p>Andrew Louis Da Lio, MD, after completing his microsurgery fellowship at UCLA, was appointed Assistant Professor in 1997. His main administrative and teaching responsibilities are to oversee the medical student program within the Division and to assist with the Plastic Surgery residents' educational programs.&nbsp;<br /><br />Dr. Da Lio's main areas of clinical expertise are in microsurgery, breast reconstruction, and lower extremity trauma. His research focuses on microsurgery, objective assessment of abdominal wall function after free TRAM flap breast reconstruction, the use of nuclear medicine imaging (FDG-PET scanning) in differentiating benign and malignant lesions after breast reconstruction, and the role of decision analysis in breast reconstruction surgery. Specific topics of interest in clinical decision-making include the role of autologous blood donation in free flap breast reconstructive surgery, reconstruction in locally advanced and metastatic breast cancer, and the use of anti-thrombotic agents in free flap surgery. His basic science research focuses on the effects of anabolic steroids in wound healing.<br /><br />Dr. Da Lio also has a great interest and extensive experience in facial aesthetic surgery and with cosmetic injectables such as Botox, Radiesse, Restylane and Sculptra. He also performs body contouring procedures and elective breast surgery with excellent results.</p>

<p><strong>Chemical Peels</strong> are a chemical solution, usually TCA (trichloroacetic acid) which is applied to the skin,causing the skin to blister and peel off over a period of 5-10 days. As the treated skin peels off, new more fresh skin replaces it.Chemical peels are a suitable procedure for facial rejuvenation and diminishing the effects of sun damage.Works best on fair , thin skin with superficial wrinkles.</p>
<p><strong>Dermabrasion</strong> is a scraping of the top layers of the skin.This procedure softens edges of surface irregularities,including fine wrinkles and acne scars,especially around the mouth.The results are permanent, however new wrinkles may form as skin ages.</p>
<p><strong>Restylane and Juvederm Utra </strong>are injectable gels used as soft tissue fillers to treat wrinkles and fill lips. Both are composed of hyaluronic acid a substance found in all living organisms. No allergy skin tests are required.<br />These dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with <strong>Botox</strong> for optimum results, especially for rejuvenation of the upper face, and diminshing the appearance of frown lines. Both products last between 4-6 months.</p>
<p><strong>Juv&eacute;derm Ultra</strong> injectable gel is a gel consisting of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Therfore no allergy test is necessary before treatment. The smooth consistency gel helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" or nasolabial folds-the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth. It is also used with much success for lip augmentation A Juv&eacute;derm treatment takes about 20-30 minutes and results are immediate. Plus, there's minimal recovery or downtime.</p>

<p><strong>Radiesse</strong> fills acne scars and wrinkles,including frown lines and smile lines. It is composed of a synthetic compound. It is does not require allergy testing and can be injected in a simple office procedure.</p>
<p><strong>Sculptra</strong> is a long lasting filler used to fill sunken areas of the face,as well stimulate new collagen growth.It is made from Poly-L-lactic acid.</p>
